DEAD FLOWERS
A Poetry Rag
Bohemian Pupil Press' Poetry Rag takes its name from the Rolling Stones' song on the 1971 album Sticky Fingers. This song is emblamatic of a quintessential irreverance: it portrays a most elegant "Fuck You." Please, do not interpret this as meaning that Dead Flowers is a platform for sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. Dead Flowers is an extension of Bohemian Pupil Press' tagline and motive: "Publishing for the Clear-Sighted Imbiber."
WE APPLAUD YOUR INDIFFERENCE TO POETRY!
Be the guest editor of an issue of Dead Flowers and help to introduce a more honest character to the academically insular world of poetry.
Dead Flowers encourages submissions from Non-MFA, Non-Workshop, poets. As guest editor you will gain access to these submissions, choosing 12 that are representative of what to your mind represents solid and rewarding poetry -
work that you believe would make folks show interest in poetry.
As the guest editor you will be expected to write a 300-500 word essay explaining the reasoning behind your choices.
You can speak about the poems individually, or as a whole. This is of course extremely important, and we ask that only those who are absolutely willing to write such an essay contact us.
Begin by dropping us an e-mail.
In the body of the email include a brief, yet thoughtful, statement as to why you are indifferent to poetry (up to 75 words) along with a brief bio (25 words).

*As guest editor you will have no access to the poets' names or bios - you will be making your selections blind. The number of issues put out will be determined by how many people want to guest edit. This could mean weekly issues, bi-monthly - we don't know at this point. If in the future the requests become too numerous, we may need to undertake some method of picking and choosing guest editors, and take on a regimented publication schedule. The individual issues will have this format: open with the guest editor's bio and Indifference to Poetry statement; the 12 chosen poems; guest editor's essay regarding his/her choices; poets' bios. The first volume is due to be issued in summer of 2012.
